U.S. Ocean Action Plan

On December 17, the Bush Administration released an Executive Order calling for establishment of a Committee on Ocean Policy chaired by the Chairman of the Council on Environmental Quality. Also submitted to the U.S. Congress was the Bush Administration's response to the recommendations in the final report of the U.S. Ocean Commission on Policy. This Administration's responses are reported in a 41-page document titled, U.S. Ocean Action Plan. On page 23 of the PDF document is a subheading titled, "Advance Offshore Aquaculture." There are three bullets under this subheading:
  1. Propose National Offshore Aquaculture Legislation;
  2. Established Aquaculture Effluent Guideline; and
  3. Support Aquaculture in the Americas.

You may recall that in the final report of the U.S. Commission on Ocean Policy, Chapter 22 was dedicated to sustainable marine aquaculture.
