Presented by the Oceanic Institute
Funded by NOAA
The Aquaculture Interchange Program (AIP) workshop:
Topic: Ecosystem-based Management for Coastal Resources
with a Focus on Aquaculture
April 18-21, 2005
Asia Room, Imin Conference Center
The East-West Center, Honolulu, Hawaii
This workshop is funded by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research, and presented by the Oceanic Institute. The purpose of this workshop is:
- to exchange information on current practices, in which aquaculture is productive, but does not increase the nutrient loading of or have a negative impact on the ecosystems of receiving waters;
- to discuss designs of models used to predict the carrying capacity of ecosystems for sustainable aquaculture development; and
- to provide information that will help decision-makers in the site selection and permitting of marine aquaculture operations.
The organizing committee has invited renowned international experts to present papers at the workshop. Paper presentations are by invitation only, but there are a few spaces still available. Participants interested in giving a presentation suitable to the aims of this workshop, please submit an abstract of your presentation (~200 words) by e-mail to Pat O'Bryen (pobryen@oceanicinstitute.org by September 15, 2004. The papers presented at the workshop will be published in a special issue of a refereed scientific journal or as a peer-reviewed book.
There are also a limited number of seats available for those who would like to sit in on the workshop but do not wish to give a presentation. Please let us know if you would like to attend as soon as possible. Seats will be reserved based on the order in which requests are received.
