EPA Schedule for Technical Workshops on New Aquaculture ELGs and Compliance Guide
There will be a series of technical workshops, held throughout the United States, that will provide information on the final concentrated aquatic animal production (CAAP) effluent limitations guidelines (ELG) regulation. EPA is also developing a Compliance Guide, which is intended to help CAAP facility owners/operators and permit writers to understand and comply with the NPDES and ELG regulations and to help improve farm environmental compatibility. EPA's technical contractor Tetra Tech will present the information at the workshops.
The workshops will:
- Provide a basic overview of the final CAAP ELG regulation
- Present the draft Compliance Guide, developed by EPA to help with implementation of the CAAP ELGs
- Help attendees understand and use the Compliance Guide
- Provide a forum for attendees to offer feedback on the draft guide
- Provide attendees with examples of forms, checklists, and other materials to help meet the CAAP ELG requirements in NPDES permit activities
The intended audience for the workshops includes aquaculture facility owners and operators, state and federal hatchery staff, NPDES permit writers, and any others interested in the final regulation.
