Asian Fisheries Society
A scientific society organized in 1984 for fishery professionals in Asia to communicate, share information and cooperate with each other. Since its establishment, the Society has grown from the original 14 charter members to over 2,800 members from 75 countries and territories.

Created by the Support unit for International Fisheries and Aquatic Research (SIFAR), this site "is an Internet portal providing access to information on fisheries and aquatic research and development." It fosters a participatory approach to encourage information sharing, communication, and networking, and also provides opportunities for individual researchers and groups to publish their research online. The site also links to the Fish Technology Knowledge Base, a source for networking opportunities and facilities for fish technologists.

American Cetacean Society
Founded in 1967, this is the oldest whale conservatioJn group in the world. As a non-profit, volunteer membership organization with reJgional U.S. chapters and members in 22 countries, ACS works to protect whales, dolphins, porpoises, and their habitatsJ through education, conservation and research.

Pew Oceans Commission
An independent group of American leaders conducting a national dialogue on the policies needed to protect and restore living marine resources in U.S. waters. After reviewing the best scientific information available, the Commission will make its formal recommendations in a report to Congress and the nation in early 2002.

Marine Aquarium Council
The mission of the MAC is to conserve coral reefs and other marine habitat by creating standards and educating and certifying those engaged in the collection and care of ornamental marinelife from reef to aquarium.

The mission of NAA is to provide a unified national voice for aquaculture that ensures its sustainability, protects its profitability, and encourages its development in an environmentally responsible manner.

American Fisheries Society
The mission of the American Fisheries Society is to improve the conservation and sustainability of fishery resources and aquatic ecosystems by advancing fisheries and aquatic science and promoting the development of fisheries professionals.

World Aquaculture Society
Founded in 1970, the primary focus of WAS is to improve communication and information exchange within the diverse global aquaculture community.

International Association of Marine Science Libraries and Informations Centers (IAMSLIC)
The association provides a forum for exchange and exploration of ideas and issues of mutual concern among individuals and organizations interested in aquatic and marine information science.

National Association of Marine Laboratories (NAML)
Representing marine and Great Lakes laboratories stretching from Guam to Bermuda and Alaska to Puerto Rico, member laboratories provide a variety of academic, research, and public service programs.

WorldFish Center
A humanitarian society which aims to reduce poverty and hunger through establishing fisheries and aquaculture. They publish reports and recommendations for aquaculture and fisheries.
